  • Rapid City Fire Station #1

Fire Station #1 in Rapid City, SD was constructed in 1975 to respond to the growing needs of the downtown area. In the intervening 35 years, the station has increased in call volume exponentially, outgrowing its on-duty staff and administrative capacity.

Faced with overcrowding, insufficient on-call accommodations and a lack of support amenities, the RCFD worked with Chamberlin Architects to assess the cost and operational impacts of new construction versus renovation at the existing site.

After a thorough site, structure and program assessment, plans were developed for a multi-level addition and extensive renovation of the existing facility allowing on-duty staff to remain on site throughout the project.

With anticipated completion in 2025, the final project will expand administrative space while providing better on-duty accommodations with expanded training rooms, a fitness center and up-to-date response team support spaces.

  • Mother Teresa Place

Grand Valley Catholic Outreach has long maintained that “you can’t end homelessness without homes”. Mother Teresa Place will be their fourth project with Chamberlin Architects to build more housing to this end. At 40 units, it will be larger than previous projects, and is also unique in focus on more vulnerable, chronically homeless individuals. As permanent supportive housing, it will include more amenities for fostering individual growth and stability of residents. Offices and a small conference room allow for in house metal health and other services. An exercise room encourages physical health and includes an overhead door for connection to the outdoors. A communal kitchen in the large commons, along with a variety of lounges and outdoor seating areas encourage social activity while providing options for different levels of privacy.

Construction is expected to begin in September 2023 and should be completed in summer of 2024. Chamberlin is honored to team with GVCO in another project that advances their mission “to proclaim the dignity and worth of each person and respond to human needs, while striving to show the compassion of Christ.”

Visitors will be able to rent individual condos that may provide walk-on access to the golf course or just a relaxing place to stay while visiting the beautiful Black Hills area. Sturgis, SD

  • Custer Fire Station

This project is a 19,000 sf fire station for the Custer Volunteer Fire Department.

The station will have a large training room, administrative offices, a kitchen/dining room, a day room, a fitness room, some sleeping rooms, a hose drying tower, a decontamination room, a laundry and gear locker room and 5 apparatus bays.

    The construction budget is $8M.

  • Marillac Health New Integrated Healthcare Clinic

Marillac Health is relocating and expanding by constructing a new integrated healthcare clinic in Grand Junction at 526 29-1/2 Road. By locating the new clinic directly adjacent to the Mesa County Community Services campus, Marillac will be able to provide health services to residents that will be on campus for other services. This facility will include medical, dental and mental health providers. An on‐site pharmacy with drive up window will be included. An administrative suite is included which will accommodate the staff. Marillac is partnering with CMU MavTech to embed teaching space within the building to train the next generation of medical assistants and support staff.

Marilla Health is an independent, Colorado non‐profit organization (501c3) that delivers high quality, accessible primary care, dental care and behavioral health care and is the health care home to over 12,000+ patients. Their mission is to provide a wide scope of primary health care services to all Mesa County residents regardless of income or insurance status. This new facility will embody the Marillac mission and is to be the prototype for their integrated care model.

  • The Confluence Center

A modern shared space was needed for a partnership of Colorado non-profits all focused in the area of the preservation of nature as well as educating the public of the importance of the land. The Confluence Center has been designed with an 11,000 sf open floor plan.  The structure will house office space centered around a central shared space for collaboration. The Center will also be home to a pre-school specializing in the teaching of scientific and engineering topics. The space also allows for public education with interactive exhibits and classes.

Nestled adjacent to the Colorado and Gunnison Rivers, this regional hub will provide a natural laboratory for like-minded partners to come together and converge their respective disciplines and science-based expertise. Once built, the Confluence Center will become a distinctive fixture for land and water education, conservation, stewardship, restoration, and sustainable agriculture in the community, region, and, ultimately, nation.
